7 August 2010 - Michael's batman party

My mom gave Michael a batman suit for his 3rd birthday and since then he has been semi-obsessed with batman.  When he first go the suit he wore it to creche for about 2 weeks straight - he wore it day and night.  He fell asleep in it and I had to pry it off him to get it in the wash and dry again to get back on him before he awoke in the morning - if he was not wearing it there was chaos in the house :)  Every function/party/occasion we has he was batman - it was actually so cute.

So come his party this year guess what he chose as a theme - BATMAN of course.....

I must say it was a lot of fun getting everything sorted and organised and I even attempted my own plastic icing this year, which was really not as difficult as I thought it would be.

The kids made their own "superhero" masks (covering my garden and house in glitter, feathers and sequins in the process), played, ate sweets, ate cake and (I think) generally had a great time.  The birthday boy was in his element from when his eyes opened up at 7am until they shut again at 7pm - it was HIS day, he had waited a full 364 days for this day and if the photos are anything to go by he LOVED it.

Happy 4th birthday my little batman.

12 June 2010 - Andrew's 6th Birthday Party

My mom and I were chatting last night and saying how happy we are that Andrew did not get chicken pox from Michael and I said that I am excited for the party happening today. I had spent the evening sorting everything out in anticipation of the 20 kids coming to the party and had baked and iced an enormous soccer-field birthday cake for my big boy's big day.

Andrew went to bed at around 8pm and at about 9pm started with a cough. Ed checked on him and told me that he had a fever of 39 degrees - not good news. I gave him some meds for the fever and then went to finish up some stuff. When I got into bed about 30 minutes later something told me to check his back and there it was - a damn spot! I could honestly not believe it! Chicken pox has hit my house again and at the MOST inappropriate time too.

This morning I had to phone 20 mommies (and daddies) and let them know that I have a little contagious boy in the house and that they need to make a decision as to if they still wanted to come to the party. We ended up with 7 kids and my two, so less than half and the biggest cake ever to eat :).

So the party still happened, just on a far smaller scale, and it seems that Andrew had a blast anyway - he did miss his friends though, I think I need to arrange a play-date or two so that he can see them a bit.

My brother, Robert, was also still around (he is visiting for just over a week) and he went full-out with the soccer theme setting up a mini soccer field on my lawn with goals and all. I honestly don't know who had more fun playing soccer, him or the kids! Thanks Robs - that was so lovely of you to do.

27 April 2010 - 3rd birthday party

It was my friend Ronica's little boy's 3rd birthday party yesterday. It was such a fun day catching up with old friends - the 'party' ended up being from 10am until 6pm though and if it was not for a 'school-day' today I am sure it would have carried on for dinner too :).

The kids have konwn each other since birth and they also really had fun with their mates.

The birthday boy

The boys did a 'concert' for the girls (in the passage of all places). It was so cute - they sang and played music to their captive audience.

Andrew and his friend C - they lay next to each other in NICU when they were born. Andrew is 4 days older than her.
